Jefferson City, MO – In a bid to resurrect his image to Missouri voters and distance himself from past statements, Rep. Todd Akin’s U.S. Senate campaign has rebranded themselves with a new slogan. The campaign team thought it was important to give voters a fresh impression of the man that Republicans see as key to winning a majority and hence taking control of the U.S. Senate.
“We looked at the campaign and thought, what would be a slogan that would help us re-flect on what we’ve accomplished, re-examine where we’re at, re-introduce our candidate, re-state his positions, and enable voters to re-evaluate Mr. Akin? Then it just hit us! The perfect slogan, RE-TODD!,” said one campaign official.

Although results are still out on the new slogan’s effectiveness, Akin’s rallies have seen a boost in attendance by people who claim they are now “retodded”. Certainly, these self-described “retodds” are very enthusiastic and at times literally drooling with excitement. They have also rented small buses to follow the campaign from town to town while planting Akin yard signs all around the state. Much of this new enthusiasm seems to be focused in and around Springfield, which is quickly becoming the “retodd” capital of Missouri.
The McCaskill campaign, when asked to comment on the retodd movement, gave this response, “these retodds are very fickle group and what we consider non-likely voters. We believe these voters could be won over simply by offering free lollypops. And no matter what name Akin goes by, Claire McCaskill will happily debate a retodd anytime, anywhere.” After all, you’d have to be totally retodded to vote for him.
