Springfield, MO – Franc Fernandez, creator of Lady Gaga’s infamous “meat dress” was seen in downtown Springfield last week looking for studio space. According to sources close to the designer, Fernandez is looking to create more meat and animal inspired designs and therefore moving to the Midwest close to farmlands is a natural progression for his art. When asked about the move, Fernandez stated: “I don’t see myself as a designer. I’m more of an artist. And Springfield is untapped potential for fashion, art, cleaving, and all that stuff. I am hoping to put a new celebrity into an actual animal – wouldn’t THAT be fabulous?”
After falling out of the spotlight when Lady Gaga continued to push the boundaries of fashion in other designers not using meat, Fernandez is hoping the relocation revitalizes his creations and inspires him back into headlines. A studio loft in downtown Springfield may just be the answer to his problems.
“Out here in Springfield I can view the downtown fashion shops and be inspired that way, but still be close enough to farms so the creations won’t spoil.” When asked if his art made people uncomfortable, Fernandez quipped “Of course it makes them uncomfortable – its ART……well, ART that is uncooked animal on someone’s body. That even makes ME uncomfortable, but I’m willing to deal with it for my designs! They are everything to me.”
