Highlandville, MO—Construction crews are bringing the largest doghouse to the Ozarks, and once completed will be one of the biggest dog homes in America. Visible from HWY 65, the canine fortress will reside next to Overwatch Manor and be known as Overwatch Kennel.
Records indicate Steven T. Huff, founder of Overwatch Systems, is listed on the deed to 500 acres where the doghouse sits. Blueprints show the doggie mansion will include more than 55,000 feet of space comprised of three levels (basement and two stories), with a dozen doggie bedrooms, multiple doggie doors, a bone yard, chew toy factory, squirrel chasing arena, and a sweeping view of trees to bark up. Other amenities will include a robotic belly scratcher, personal butler named Cujo and the home will come furnished with grass pee pad carpeting.
Christian County leaders say the building permit application reveals material costs alone for the project would reach nearly $4-million. A Planning and Zoning Administrator said, “it is our understanding that this is a single domestic dog residence, however, I expect Huff’s wife will put him in the doghouse from time to time, which wouldn’t really be that bad considering it is the same size as the White House.”
According to Christian County land records the doggone castle construction began in 2008 and could rank in the top ten dog homes by size in the Western Hemisphere. Currently, the largest doghouse home in the country (located in Tampa, FL) comes in at 25 square feet.
