Purple Burrito Serves Purple Burrito

Springfield, MO—In a surprising announcement, the Mexi-Cali restaurant Purple Burrito has announced that it will be promoting business by serving an actual purple-colored burrito.
“Our customers have come to expect authentic Mexi-Cali fusion meals at Purple Burrito so we have decided to up the ante and create a new signature item that will blow people’s minds!” said Vince Tuggart a manager of one location.
Purple, normally a food color associated with grapes and eggplant, wasn’t the easiest color for a promotional burrito yet it was the color that made the most sense. “We spent a lot of time developing the purple flour tortilla used in the menu item,” sad Tuggart, “with a special mix of rare peppers, herbs and spices found only on the Baja peninsula we were able to perfect the recipe.”
Consumers were initially skeptical of the promotion. “I was pissed when I opened my burrito and found that it looked like a giant grape jolly rancher. I mean none of my other friends had a jacked-up burrito. Then the manager congratulated me and said I was the lucky person who received the off-color concoction. He then gave me a coupon for a free donkey ride the next time I come in,” said Jeffrey Lokilly.
The Purple Burrito will run the promotion now through the end of the year. Each of the multiple locations around Springfield will limit servings to 3-4 purple burritos a week. Tuggart mused, “now we have to perfectly engineer a purple donkey for our customers to ride. The genetic scientists we’ve hired are almost there, they just need a few more weeks to get the color just right. If they don’t get it soon, I’m sure a can of spray paint will accomplish what the ‘scientists’ call evolutionary roadblocks.”
