Branson, MO—Cornell Haynes, Jr., better known as Nelly, had planned to perform an outdoor concert in the Grand Palace parking lot August 21st before the City of Branson turned down a permit for the event. Having visited the Grand Palace, Nelly claimed the theatre was “getting hot in here” and preferred to have an outdoor performance.
According to a city spokesperson, the permit has been turned down because the application lacked many details. Nelly assured the city leaders that he was “no deceivin, nothin up my sleeve, no teasin “ and stressed that if the concert were to be held inside he would be “gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off”.
The Branson Board of Alderman requested that all the permits necessary be acquired before an outdoor concert could be approved. The complicated legal process, coupled with the frustrating red tape has caused some confusion in the Nelly camp. “My grammar be’s ebonics, gin tonic and chronic,” said Nelly. “How am I supposed to know how to get an application approved in Branson?”
Branson City Administrator Dean Kruithof said the City will work diligently to assist Paul Dunn, the owner of the Palace, to get the theatre open so the Nelly concert can be held on the original date. Nelly was so excited about the possibility of actually having a concert in Branson said, “I feel like bustin loose and I feel like touchin you.”
Kruithof, not sure what to make of the “bustin loose” and the “touchin”, maintains that the preference would be to hold the concert inside the theater.
