Springfield, MO— In an attempt to calm city tensions, President Obama has invited Mayor Jim O’Neal and retiree Jim Hornaday to a beer summit held at the Springfield Brewing Company.
A local debate on city spending occurred after O’Neal and Hornaday exchanged heated emails. Hornady inquired how “our new Mayor would…steam out the wrinkles” in the Heers building fiasco. Outraged, O’Neal called Hornady “immature” and suggested that he “grow up”.
Hoping to bury the hatchet between two SGFers, the President has secured the back room of the Brew Co. For the meeting President Obama has requested that Mueller Porter, Boulevard Pale Ale and Little Yeoman be on the menu. He has also called for the creation of a ceremonial brew, to be made by the monks of Assumption Abbey in a Mr. Beer brewing kit and shall be dubbed “Heers Steamer”.
Both O’Neal and Hornaday have agreed to the meeting and say they are prepared to move forward, not back. Developer Kevin McGowan may also join the trio to discuss Heers building renovations, but is expected to show up late.
President Obama said, ““I have always believed that what brings us together is stronger than what pulls us apart. I am confident that will happen in the Ozarks, and I am hopeful that all of us are able to draw this positive lesson from this episode.”
