Springfield, MO—The Springfield Lasers have forced the hand of Anna Kournikova (Анна Ку́рникова) as she has agreed to add a pre-match autograph session for all ages during Friday’s World Team Tennis match at Cooper Tennis Complex at an undisclosed location.
Lasers spokesman Bob Nelson confirmed team officials couldn’t say when or where the session would start, but the match between the St. Louis Aces and Lasers begins at 7:30 p.m.
Nelson did say that autograph-seekers would not be limited to those 16 and younger, however, 2 forms of identification are necessary and one DNA sample must be submitted prior to the scheduled 15-minute post-match autograph session on the court for those wishing to attend.
A wrist injury will keep the tennis icon from playing for the Aces. Kournikova also has agreed to do a halftime question-and-answer session where attendees can ask how she her injured her wrist. The top two theories include her fight in Las Vegas last week and an enormous diamond ring on her left hand.
Kournikova, who has long been linked to singer Enrique Iglesias, showed up recently for a World Team Tennis match with a huge diamond ring on her left ring finger — the finger normally reserved for engagement rings. Kournikova holds her racket in her right hand but uses both hands when she plays backhand shots. She has worn a protective wrap on her left hand.
Enrique Iglesias is expected to sing the national anthem in Spanish before the match.
