Classic boats were on display at this weekend at Table Rock Lake as important pieces of history. In fact, many boat lovers hit the lake this weekend to mock the 2009 Classics Cruisin’ weekend attendees.
Before the festivities took place a christening occurred of The Flying Wasp. The captain of the boat said, “I’ve got a little, a little poem that’d I’d like to read on this occasion if I may… It’s easy to grin when you ship comes in and you’ve got the stock market beat. But the man worthwhile is the man who can smile when his pants aren’t too tight in the seat. A-hum-hum-hum. Spalding get you foot of the boat!”
Originally built in the 1930′s, these nautical works of art are made mainly of wood and fiberglass. Several types of boats have been floating through through the Ozarks over the years and this weekend marked the annual mixture of the various styles.
When local resident and boater, Al Czervik, pulled into dock and found the Flying Wasp under his boat he exclaimed, “Hey, you scratched my anchor!”
This year’s cruise included a 108 mile round-trip pre-event cruise from Branson to Eureka Springs.
