MO Legislature Session Is Out!

Missouri Legislators recently wrapped up this year’s lawmaking session in Jefferson City. Last Friday was hectic day in the House as Representatives had to rush into some of this year’s most important issues such as cleaning out lockers, signing yearbooks and saying goodbye to friends.
Late Friday afternoon, a big sigh of relief came from the doors of the Capitol building. Legislators finally agreed on a the song to be played while legislators scrub desks, take down posters, straighten up books, and clean the State Capitol.
House Majority Floor Leader Steve Tilley said, “my cute idea was to play The Coasters’ “Yakety Yak” while they clean. It sings, ‘Take out the papers and the trash, or you don’t get no spending cash!’” Tilley apparently dared all legislators to finish their jobs before the song is over.
On Thursday, Tilley said there was no point for the House to remain working on bills that aren’t going to pass by the end of the year, so he decided to adjourn the House until 10 a.m. Friday. “If we’ve waited four months for an economic development bill, there’s no reason I could expect one in the next four hours. Besides I’m ready to hit the pool and work on my tan. Session’s out for summer! Session’s out for-evah!” Tilley told reporters.
Unfortunately, several end-of-session pranks have yet to be confirmed. Rumors suggest Senator Norma Champion, of District 30, totally said she was going to drop her tray of food in the lunchroom just to “start a food fight”. Also, Representative Sara Lampe of the 138th District planned to drop a corn eyed butt snake into a plastic bag, freeze it till solid, then grate the turd around the Third Floor Rotunda.
