The Pirate Bay is suing the Somali pirates who moved to the Ozarks, hijacked the Showboat Branson Belle, and claimed former party cove as Pirate Cove. The Pirate Bay is suing the Somali pirates claiming copyright infringement.
The Pirate Bay is a Swedish website that indexes and tracks BitTorrent (.torrent) files. It bills itself as “the world’s largest BitTorrent tracker”. The Pirate Bay leaders have just recently been involved in a nine-day trial and were sentenced to one year in prison and payment of a fine of 3.6 million dollars.
Gottfrid Svartholm, co-owner of The Pirate Bay, says the lawsuit against Somali pirates is based in principle. “They claim to be something that they are not. We are The Pirate Bay, and Pirate Cove is just too close for comfort. Its going to confuse our customer base,” said Svartholm.
Somali/Ozark pirate Abdikarim Dalmar said, “Dem Swedes be suing us? Dey not pirates, dey Vikings!” Local authorities have been contacted to represent the Somali/Ozark pirates in a counter suit claiming false representation on the part of The Pirate Bay.
Showboat Branson Belle audience member turned hostage, Bob Roberts had a different take on the situation. “Just get me some free Jimmy Buffet songs to listen to during this smuggler’s blues kidnapping and I’m not going to be afraid of one dread pirate,” Roberts said. “As you wish,” responded Dalmar immediately searching for a song to soothe the captives request.
