Germans Deny SBC Märzen Gold World Beer Cup Win

Springfield, MO – Following an unprecedented victory in Denver, Colorado where the Springfield Brewing Company took the International Gold World Beer Cup in the Märzen category over several rival brewers, German participants are officially denying any such victory ever happened.
The Springfield Brewing Company team went up against storied breweries who have a combined brewing experience of 662 years (which is also how lawyers calculate a firm’s experience). When approached for comment, the non-gold winning brewers said, “was redest du?” in unison, which when loosely translated means “what are you talking about?”
This award easily surpassed the widely acknowledged defeat over the Wolfhausen clan by the American Beerfest team after entering the games in a Trojan horse wooden keg and winning “Das Boot”, thereby securing the rights and recipe to Schnitzengiggle Beer.
“The Mayhem Märzen is an Oktoberfest-style lager,” said brewing Judge Hyma Shiffaced, “Märzen is a style of beer that Germans revere. And this year, all of the judges agreed that Springfield Brewing Company out-brewed ze Germans at their own game.”
Springfield Brewing Company is proud to have earned its first World Cup Medal and is honored and humbled by the award. A spokesperson said, “It really is fantastic for our efforts to have paid off. That whole denial thing is made up, right? Those guys were pretty cool at the Craft Brewers Conference.”
