Frozen Turkeys Hidden Along Turkey Trot Route

Local man prepares to find hidden frozen turkey during race

Springfield, MO – Newcomer to the Ozarks grocery scene, Hy-Vee Inc., plans to give back to the community by donating 200 frozen turkeys to elevate the annual Turkey Trot event. The frozen poultry will be placed along the race route in hidden locations where racers are encouraged to find them and take them home.

Racers are excited to run the race given the new perk. “The Turkey Trot really impacts our cooking time for Thanksgiving. I’m glad that I’ll have a chance to pick up a free turkey along the way to cut down on my kitchen time by making shopping easier,” said mother of 3 kids Charlotte Kinsington.

The frozen turkeys will be hidden in various bushes, behind cars and around building corners. Some larger birds will be located in more less-obvious places. “I’m sure I’ll find the 40-lb. turkey on race day. I’m pretty good at hide and seek and I’m positive that I’m going to come home with a whopper,” said Nate Felixson who has run the race since 2006.

Race organizers have yet to acknowledge the new addition to the event and claim that they know nothing about the additional incentive. “Ah, no. Haven’t heard about this. But If Hy-Vee wants to place free food along the track, well, who am I to stop them!” claimed Roger Tifferbits.
